It's not too early to plan for spring: Mark your calendars for upcoming Parent U Events!

 

As we head into the second half of the school year, it's a great time to start thinking ahead and planning for the upcoming spring Parent U sessions.

These valuable virtual events are designed to help you stay informed, support your child’s education, and prepare for important milestones. All sessions are hosted via Zoom and accessible through the SBISD website. Plus, every session is available in both English and Spanish, ensuring everyone has access to the resources they need.

Here are the upcoming Parent U sessions for 2025—be sure to mark your calendars!

Upcoming Parent U Sessions:

  • Understanding Math Pathways for 5th Grade Families - January 16, 2025
    Get ready for middle school by learning about the different math pathways available to students as they transition from elementary to secondary school. This session will give you the tools to support your child’s success in math.

  • Earning College Credit in High School (Dual Credit/Dual Enrollment) for 9th and 10th Grade Families - February 5, 2025
    For parents of 9th and 10th graders, this session will explore how your student can start earning college credits while still in high school through dual credit and dual enrollment opportunities. It’s a great way to set your student on the path to college readiness.

  • A Parent’s Guide to Vaping and Fentanyl Awareness: Safeguarding Our Youth - February 20, 2025
    This important session, open to all families, will provide critical information on the dangers of vaping and fentanyl. Learn how to protect your children from these risks and support their well-being.

  • 504/Special Education Accommodations in College for 11th and 12th Grade Families - April 29, 2025
    For parents of 11th and 12th graders, this session will help you understand how students with learning differences can access accommodations in college. Learn how to navigate the transition to higher education and advocate for your student’s needs.

Session Details:

  • Location: All sessions will be held via Zoom at 6PM.
  • Languages Available: Sessions will be hosted in English with professional simultaneous interpretation in Spanish.
  • Access to Recordings: Can’t make it to a live session? No problem! Recordings will be available on the SBISD Parent U website, along with helpful resources.
