Who We Are

Welcome to Thornwood Elementary!

At Thornwood Elementary, our entire staff is committed to excellence for our students, parents, and community. We are a small neighborhood school, approximately 400 students. As a Title I campus, we are proud of our diversity. We offer instruction for students in Pre-K through 5th Grade. We also have a Bilingual Program for students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade.

Our Language Arts teachers are ESL trained to work with students whose first language is not English. We also have a wonderful fine arts program for our students providing quality instruction in music, art, and health fitness.

Our staff is trained to provide multiple interventions to ensure each child's success. Our campus is family-oriented as we provide multiple opportunities for parental involvement, including parent education nights, parent information events, library nights, parent coffees, and student performances.

At Thornwood Elementary, we work on building Social Skills, through Project CLASS (Children Learning Appropriate Social Skills). Project Class teaches students to build skills to successfully Ask Permission, Pay Attention, Get the Teacher's Attention, Accept No, Accept Feedback, and Follow Instructions.
