Who We Are
Welcome to Thornwood Elementary!
Thornwood Elementary is a TEA "Recognized" School, for the third consectuative year, where our entire staff is committed to excellence for our students, parents, and community. We are a small neighborhood school, approximately 465 students. As a Title I campus, we are proud of our diversity. We offer instruction for students in Pre-K through 5th Grade. We also have a Bilingual Program for students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade.
Our Language Arts teachers are ESL trained to work with students whose first language is not English. We also have a wonderful fine arts program for our students providing quality instruction in music, art, and health fitness.
Our staff is trained to provide multiple interventions to ensure each child's success. Our campus is very family oriented as we provide multiple opportunities for parental involvement including parent education nights, parent information events, family movie nights, parent coffees, and student performances.
Our campus has been the proud recipient of the No Place for Hate Award for the past 6 years. At Thornwood Elementary, we work on building Character Skills (as adopted by Spring Branch ISD) such as responsibility, problem solving, caring, friendship, teamwork, etc. on a daily basis.
It's a matter of pride...think exemplary!
